7:02PM – It’s finally over for the Microsoft Xbox Media Briefing. We can safely say that when Phil Spencer said this year will be the biggest E3 for Xbox, he certainly wasn’t wrong. Now we need to have a rest from all the excitement.
7:00PM – Simply titles Gears 4 we get a release date of Christmas 2016 before Phil Spencer returns to the stage to reiterate Xbox’s commitment to gaming. With the massive volume of exclusive titles, integration with Windows 10, compatibility with both virtual reality and mixed reality headsets and backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 titles coming later this year.
6:50PM – The newly announced The Coalition are up on stage now showing off a remastered version of Gears of War, completely remastered in 1080P60 with a one week public beta available from today.
We’re also treated to an incredibly detailed scene from the next Gears of War title. We see a two person team making their way towards a crumbling fort looking for the rest of their team who appeared to be on the heels of some sort of creature. Suddenly a massive lightning tornado starts ripping the place apart and our duo takes shelter.
6:45PM – Not to leave out their own virtual reality headset the Hololens we see the game being played on a virtual screen with another player playing on a Microsoft Surface.
That’s all well and good but we see that the world can be moved from the wall and onto a table were we get an overhead view of the world, still able to manipulate and interact with the game, all while the second player is playing Minecraft traditionally.
More information regarding Minecraft will be coming in a few weeks at Minecon.
6:45PM – Kudos Tsunoda has also announced that Windows 10 will be working with Valve VR on their virtual reality headset as well as reiterating their partnership with Oculus VR which will see every Oculus Rift shipping with the Xbox One controller and wireless adaptor.
6:43PM – Without time to get our breath back we are straight into Fable: Legends, exclusive to Xbox One and Windows 10. Kudos Tsunoda is confirming Fable Legends will be cross platform for both Xbox and Windows 10 and your characters and items will carry across both platforms.
6:40PM – Next we see a number of other players all running past towards a cove where a pirate ship is docked. Taking to the sees it doesn’t take long before the players are engaged in ship to ship combat. The title of the game is Sea of Thieves, yet again this is another Xbox One exclusive.
6:36PM – It looks like Microsoft are finally doing something with their huge back catalog of Rare titles with a massive Rare collection featuring 30 titles, and 10,000 Gamer Score. Featuring classic titles such as Battletoads, Perfect Dark and Banjo and Kazooie. The title will be available 4th August 2015.
As well as all their classic titles Rare have announced an open shared-world title that promises unlimited freedom and creativity. The demo shows a character waking up in a lush jungle-scape with a very pirate-y theme building up.
6:29PM – Next we have Crystal Dynamic’s Brian Horton showing us the first video of Rise of the Tomb Raider. We see Lara making her way through a cave before emerging on a precarious ledge as a blizzard rolls in.
We see Lara making death-defying climbs and jumps as the storm triggers an avalanche which she must find shelter from. Rise of the Tomb Raider will be an Xbox One holiday exclusive, with the Playstation 4 version due out later in 2016.
6:27PM – Finally Chris Charla is announcing that Xbox will start allowing developers and gamers to participate in early access and allowing gamers to give feedback on titles that are still in development.
All early access titles will allow you to try them before buying in, with the first two titles Elite: Dangerous and DayZ being available later today.
6:25PM – Next up we get a view of the classic cartoon inspired Cupman, following the titular character and his sidekick Mugman. Described as looking like a 1940’s cartoon meshed with precise 16-bit controls Cupman looks like yet another beautiful and unique ID@Xbox title.
6:23PM – Beyond Eyes is a beautiful water coloured title about a young girl who after becoming blind explores her environment using her other senses and memories of how the world appeared when she was a young child.
6:18PM – Chris Charla is up now talking about some of the many ID@Xbox indie titles coming to Xbox One including Gone Home, Arkz and Cuphead to name only three.
6:15PM – A new free-to-play title, Gigantic, is up now. Available for Xbox One and Windows 10 this cross platform title allows you to create your own guardian and set out to defeat gigantic monsters in a very Skylanders-esque style.
6:11PM – Next up is Tom Clancy’s: The Division. Showing some impressive looking firefights in the streets of a dilapidated New York.
Announcing that the original Ghost Recon was a launch game of the Xbox Live service back on the original Xbox console. Xbox One gamers will also get to play the The Division beta this December, first on Xbox.
Those who pick up Tom Clancy’s: Rainbow Six Siege will also receive both Rainbow Six: Vegas and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 for free as part of the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 titles.
6:08PM – Next we see Dark Souls 3, with some sweeping shots of a hauntingly bleak environment. No release date unfortunately.
6:01PM – Now we are being shown the history of the Ford GT, seeing one being lowered into the show floor. We have Ford’s Henry Ford 3rd and Turn10 Studio’s Dan Greenawalt to talk about the Xbox One exclusive Forza Motorsport 6. We’re also being treated to some gorgeous in-game
5:58PM – Next up is Peter Moore from Electronic Arts talking about EA Access exclusive to Xbox One. Announcing the next Madden and Need for Speed titles will be available early for EA Access members.
They will also be adding Titanfall to the EA Access Vault and Dragon Age: Inquisition will be coming at the end of the month. If that wasn’t enough to tempt you, EA Access will be completely free all week to Xbox Live Gold subscribers.
We’re also being treated to a world exclusive Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 trailer. Which frankly looks utterly bonkers.
5:57PM – Bethesda have announced that mods for Fallout 4 created on Windows PC will be transferable, compatible and playable on the Xbox One for free.
5:55PM – We’re now being treated to another look at Bethesda’s Fallout 4 on Xbox One. We’re seeing the origins of your character’s powered suit as well as a little bit more early gameplay.
The second screen experience is also mentioned once again where you can use your mobile phone or tablet as a Pipboy to organise your inventory and check on your states and mission progress.
5:50PM – Phil Spencer has just announced a the new Xbox One Elite controller for Xbox One and Windows 10, this does not appear to be the new style Xbox One controller which we previous reported on.
The new controller appears to have massive amounts of customisation options, including replacing the analog sticks, d-pad and four customisable rear triggers.
5:47PM – Phil Spencer has just taken to the stage to announce Xbox 360 games will be backwards compatible with your Xbox One!
Digital Xbox 360 titles will start to appear on the Xbox One consoles automatically and any purchased titles will be free to play, no need to re-purchase (a slight dig at Sony there!)
All Xbox One dashboard features will remain including game DVR and screen shot capability.
5:44PM – Up next is title from Mega Man creator called Recore. We see a young woman and her robotic dog transversing an endless desert before being confronted by a group of robotic spider like enemies.
Being slowly beat back, the robotic dog sacrifices itself to detonate what appears to be an EMP black wiping out all enemies and only leaving a core lying on the ground.
5:42PM – Confirming Halo 5: Guardians will see two distinct teams of Spartans face off against each other. One lead by the Master Chief, the other by Spartan Locke.
Also announced is a massive online mode entitled Halo: Warzone that will see teams of 24 Spartans facing off against massive Covenant armies in maps that are four times that of any pervious Halo title.
5:39PM – After battling from one firefight to another we see a Forerunner soldier announce the team is not permitted passage before knocking down Spartan Locke and ending the demo.
5:34PM – Starting us up is a trailer showing a group of Spartans hunting down the Master Chief. We see some familiar faces including Spartan Locke from Halo: Nightfall and the now Spartan Buck from Halo 3: ODST.
We see them tracking the Master Chief to a Covenant base, as a massive explosion rips the ground from beneath them.
5:34PM – The Microsoft Media Briefing is just starting now, we’re seeing a trailer showcasing some of the biggest Xbox titles such as Halo 4: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Fable Legends with the tagline ‘Jump Ahead’.
First up is 343 Industries’ Bonnie Ross stating this year will be the best lineup in Xbox’s history, stating the best indie games and exclusives will be available for Xbox One.
