Update: It appears that the mysterious tweet was in-fact a countdown to the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops on to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility list.
Various websites and twitter accounts have been retweeting a rather cryptic message by Xbox engineering lead Mike Ybarra that simply said “~13.5 hours. #Xbox”.
~13.5 hours. #Xbox
— Mike Ybarra (@XboxQwik) 17 May 2016
While the tweet doesn’t have much context to it many sites are claiming Microsoft will be making a pre-E3 announcement some time today, although a whole month before E3 might be a little bit too early. This would make it unlikely that Microsoft would announce anything significant, although a smaller announcement of new game DLC or new backwards compatible Xbox 360 titles may be possible.
It is entirely possible that some up-coming Xbox 360 backwards compatible titles may be available later today. Titles such as the Bioshock trilogy and Call of Duty: Black Ops are confirmed to be heading to the program, although have been “coming soon” since the start of the year.
Either way we will see what this mysterious tweet is all about in less than 9 hours.
