As announced in Microsoft’s Windows 10 Event, the next version of Microsoft’s popular operating system will be focused on creativity and 3D. One app that will get a major upgrade will be Microsoft’s long-running MS Paint.
The new version of MS Paint, simply named Paint 3D, will be available for free as part of the Windows 10 Creator Update, available Spring 2017. The new Paint 3D will allow users to break free from the traditional restraints of 2D art creation, and break into the third dimension. Users will be able to scan real-world items using an app, import them into Paint 3D, and edit the scene with either 2D or 3D assets.
These assets can either be created or imported from Microsoft’s Remix community, or even use models created in the massively popular Sketchup 3D creation program. Once created, these scenes can be shared in 3D on Facebook, printed using a 3D printer or placed within mixed reality with Windows 10 and Hololens.
